CIVIL WAR GENERAL (GS2821)

Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (September 8, 1828 – February 24, 1914) was a college professor who joined the Union Army without the benefit of any formal military education, and became a highly respected and decorated Union officer during the American Civil War, reaching the rank of brigadier general (and brevet major general). For his gallantry at Gettysburg, he was awarded the Medal of Honor. He was given the honor of commanding the Union troops at the surrender ceremony for the infantry of Robert E. Lee's Army at Appomattox, Virginia. After the war he served as a Republican Governor of Maine for four terms and served on the faculty and as president of his alma mater, Bowdoin College. DR. ALBERT EINSTEIN (GS2819)

Albert Einstein (1879–1955) was a German-born theoretical physicist who is widely considered to have been one of the greatest physicists of all time. While best known for the theory of relativity (and specifically mass-energy equivalence, E=mc²), he was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on the photoelectric effect. In popular culture, the name "Einstein" has become synonymous with genius. In 1999 Einstein was named Time magazine's "Person of the Century". He is 28 inches tall and comes with a detachable arm rod.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (GS2820)

William Shakespeare (died April 23, 1616) was an English poet and playwright widely regarded as the greatest writer of the English language. He wrote approximately 38 plays and 154 sonnets, as well as a variety of other poems. Already a popular writer in his own lifetime, Shakespeare became increasingly celebrated after his death and his work adulated by numerous prominent cultural figures through the centuries. He is often considered to be England's national poet and is sometimes referred to as the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "The Bard") or the "Swan of Avon". He is 28 inches tall and come with a detachable arm rod.

UNCLE SAM (GS2818)

Uncle Sam is one of the most popular personifications of the United States of America. However, the term "Uncle Sam" is of somewhat obscure derivation. Historical sources attribute the name to a meat packer who supplied meat to the army during the War of 1812—Samuel (Uncle Sam) Wilson (1766-1854). "Uncle Sam" Wilson was a man of great fairness, reliability, and honesty, who was devoted to his country—qualities now associated with "our" Uncle Sam.

HILLBILLY (59938)

Our Hillbilly Full-body Puppet is 28 inches tall and has an arm rod that can be attached to either hand. Stereotypical characteristics of hillbillies as portrayed in popular media, are that they:

• smoke a corncob pipe
• are often moonshiners with an (illegal) still on their property
• often drink from traditional moonshine clay jugs marked "XXX"
• often wear a worn out floppy hat
• own a shotgun.
• often fight each other along family lines. This is known as a "feud."
• are often barefoot
• have poor personal and dental hygiene (sometimes portrayed with few or no teeth at all).
• are not motivated by money or attempt in any way to improve their social status in comparison to the outside world.
• are poorly educated
• engage in inbreeding
• drive vintage Ford and Chevrolet (occasionally Dodge) pick-up trucks, for lack of a newer vehicle
• wear overalls with a broken strap, with no shirt underneath
• the men often have long, scraggly, and unkempt beards

ANCHORS AWEIGH

That's GS4567 Seaman Simon there on the left. His surprized expression is due to his discovery that the "Free Cruise" he signed up for turned out to be a two year enlistment in the Navy. William "Corky" Cochran, with his wonderful love of horses, always dreamed of winning a race and having his name "Corky" up in lights as a world-famous jockey. Unfortunately, when he did actually win his first race, the track and subsequently the newspapers, got his name mixed up with that of his winning steed. So today, "Sea Biscuit" Cochran is just happy he wasn't riding Mama's Baby in that race! Whatever his name is, he is 28 inches tall and comes with a removable arm rod.

RACE CAR DRIVER (GS4616)

When anyone hears the name Walter "Wheels" O'Malley they immediately think of our world famous Race Card Driver (GS4616). Or not. Walter here is 28 inches tall and comes with a detachable arm/hand rod.

DINNER IS SERVED

And you are in for a real treat. World renowned Chef Gaston Flambé (GS4305) is famous not only for his Braised Brisket of Cornfed Partridge in Dumpling Gravy, but also his Marshmallow Mousse Soup which he prepares using only his feet. Standing a full 28 inches tall (as when stepping out of a soup kettle), he comes complete with an arm rod that can be easily switched for either left or right-handed stirring. And happily, with each other! Martin (GS4536) has just accidentally swallowed the friendship ring he was giving to Alysia (GS4556). His intentions were to give it a kiss and then hand it to her. Alysia says that she has no intention of waiting for it... but that she loves him anyway. They are both 28 inches tall and we gave both of them a removable arm rod.

DISCO KIDS

Janice (GS2902) and her friend John (GS2901) are 28 inches tall and specially designed for use under Black Light which is high-frequency UltraViolet (UV) light. These puppets "glow" when exposed to Black Light and this is called "fluorescence". Simply put, the invisible UV light energy is absorbed by a surface and released as visible light.
